O3RI’s Mission Statement:

 

1. Facilitating research in the field of omega-3 PUFA with the purpose of:

 

a) Developing data and documentation for validation and support of the concepts of Recommended Daily Allowance of Omega-3 PUFA and of Authoritative Statements (health claims) (as defined in the United States Food and Drug Administration Modernization Act of 1997) on their physiologic and therapeutic significance.

 

b) Developing a program to ensure supply of quality-controlled omega-3 oils and related placebo materials for scientifically evaluated basic and clinical research studies/trials proposed to elucidate the physiologic and clinical roles of omega-3 (PUFA) in nutrition, health and disease,

 

2. Facilitating scientific communication and public education on, and awareness of the roles and benefits of omega-3 PUFA in nutrition, health and disease.
